Journal

Many have asked for an update so I thought I would share where we are now.

My surgery was May 15 and I spent 10 days in the hospital. I’ve been home since May 25. This surgery was so much easier on me physically than my first surgery and my recovery was way easier than we thought it was going to be. Surgery was successful in terms of they removed all cancer they could find.

Since coming home, my incision hasn’t been healing correctly.  As of last week, the top finally began to heal, but the underneath side has a “cave.”  I finally got into the wound clinic on the 29th (a 3 week wait) and their recommendation is a wound vac. Their recommendation was to open it back up so it’s big enough to see what’s going on at the base and so we could get a wound vac in. I thought it would be a scheduled surgery, but when I saw my surgeon on Friday, she went ahead and opened my incision back up in the office. It was unexpected, but a blessing so I didn’t have to wait for surgery. Sadly, it takes a couple days to get the wound vac approved and things didn’t happens Friday that were supposed to in order to get that ball rolling, so now we are dealing with an open wound in my abdomen. I’m also in a little bit more pain than I was understandably.  I go to the wound clinic Tuesday and will hopefully be able to get the wound vac process moving. I hope to have the wound vac by the end of this week. I never thought I would want another wound vac, but I’m ready to get this wound healed.

Please pray that I could get the wound vac sooner rather than later and that insurance would approve quickly. Pray that we would be able to keep the wound open and infection free. Pray for my heart. I’m discouraged and weary of this journey. But I know that God is good and that He is growing my faith through this journey. Clinging to God’s promises each day.

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬
