Hello Friends and Family,

It’s been a few months since the last post and I wanted to provide a quick update and prayer request.

It’s been a little over a year now that mom has been receiving chemo nearly every other week. It’s been taxing on her emotionally, physically, and mentally, but she continues to impress us with her strength, stamina and faith.

While the scans had been showing no new growth, recently they found that the tumor on the pancreas has slightly increased in size. Also, her tumor markers have continued to increase since February. Her test today showed that the tumor marker number went up from 2,376 on April 9th to 3,021.

The doctors have increased her chemo dosage and they are considering other treatments options. On June 10th she will get an endoscopy and on June 6th another scan to help decide on the next course of treatment. They are considering radiation if they know that they can target it safely and not damage any nearby organs.

Her appointments now are about a day’s worth of work. They’ve added a new chemo that takes about 2 more hours for infusion. Today she began her appointments at 9:30 am and didn’t finish until 6:00 pm.  I am grateful for my wonderful dad who takes her to and from her appointments and makes sure she has food, blankets, and company.

In spite of a grueling chemo schedule, mom has been living a good life in between her naps. She’s traveled a few times, spent time with family and friends, and treated herself to as many popsicles and frozen yogurt and Starbucks that she wants. She’s even taken her car out for a few for errands in the neighborhood. It’s been about late 2019 since she was driving herself around town.

Mom would ask for prayers that the upcoming tests show a positive treatment option to get rid of the cancer. She is praying for a full healing - that radiation is possible and able to successfully target and eliminate the tumor and the chemo continues to stop the spread of cancer. As her family, I would ask for prayers to give mom encouragement, strength, peace, and a joyful life.

Thank you for continuing to be there for mom and our family. Your prayers, texts, calls, and kind messages mean the world to all of us. It’s a blessing to not be alone in the fight.

Love,

Jayse
