Yesterday we were able to celebrate that Isola has maintained and continues to grow cells! At this point, we can be assured that engraftment worked! We are praising God for this miracle!
After receiving the news, I asked Bailey “what’s next??”
Isola will have a bone marrow biopsy on Monday to have a further look at her bone marrow. This will tell us how many of her own cells remain, how many are donor cells and if any of the JMML remains.
Then most medications will be slowly switched to oral medications before she leaves the hospital. The family already has a room at the Ronald McDonald house, which is just five minutes down the road. Isola will transition there when doctors feel she is ready and she will continue to have daily appointments at the hospital.
Isola has shown lots of improvements since last week but her body is still working very hard and she continues to be very tired and sick to her stomach.
I will update again when we have more news. We are celebrating the gift of healing. To God be the Glory!
