Journal

Hey everyone!

I know it’s been a few weeks since I posted an update. Not too much had changed so I didn’t have much to update you all on. Mom has been doing the same treatments, speech and physical therapy, and spending the weekends in Atlanta visiting the grandbaby.

(Iliana is doing great :) she’s eating well, and overall she’s an awesome and relaxed baby. She’s gained about a pound and is growing by the day. If anyone wants a pic don’t hesitate to ask we have about three trillion!)

After a few spikes in blood pressure they adjusted meds and added a second one and since then mom’s blood pressure has been much better and under control which means overall feeling less tired less dizzy and less headaches.

Time flies and it’s already been three months since brain surgery #2!! This means it was about time to get some updated scans to see how mom’s brain is recovering from the surgery and reacting to the current chemo therapy/protein infusion treatment.

Today we met with mom’s oncology team to go over the scans and we have some positive feedback!

Mom’s team is very very pleased with how the scans look. They were happy to report that her recovery went great and the scans look very good. There is no new growth and nothing bad or concerning on the updated scans!! Her oncologist said “when something is working this well, we don’t change it.”

This is obviously extremely relieving news. For the time being her treatment is holding the tumors at bay and her body is reacting well and not having adverse effects. This also means that she doesn’t have to change meds, treatments, etc which often times is very frustrating and tolling on mom’s physical and mental health. She can continue to do speech and physical therapy as preventative/maintenance therapies. (She’s still capable of walking talking etc, just having some word jumbles and muscle stiffness which is what they’re targeting during these appointments.) She also only has to do treatment twice a month in the hospital and continue on chemo which we are very blessed doesn’t make her nauseous or really have much side effects other than tiredness. She can continue on with her current lifestyle, traveling to Virginia, to Atlanta to see the baby, to the beach etc!

Her oncology team will meet with her once a month and her next scan will be in about two months. I honestly don’t know if I’ll have much of an update for you for the time being until then because everything is established and will stay the same as it is now.

Thank you to every who still reaches out and checks in on mom. Some days the brain fog makes it a little hard for her to respond to texts or focus on conversations so if she ever misses a text that’s why! We love and appreciate you all and her team here and everyone who has followed or helped out along on the journey thus far!
