Ooof. It’s been a couple days.

Unfortunately the 5th vaccine is known to have harsher symptoms than the first four and every shot could be different. This one hit Huddy pretty hard.  In true Hudson fashion, he kept going despite the pain, fevers and just overall yucky feeling. He did nap longer than normal the last couple of days but when he was awake he wanted to play and run and do everything he could to not sit still (even though Bryan and I tried so hard to just get him to rest!!)

Friday at 3 am he spiked a fever and we walked to MSK for cultures because the port is still a cause for concern for blood infection (even though we know there is a reason for the fever- the vaccine- a port infection can be deadly. So we practice complete caution.)

The nurses that accessed him and took vitals asked if Hudson is always so happy and talkative at 3 in the morning. That’s our Huddy. If there is one thing Hudson has taught me it’s that you can ALWAYS find joy in any circumstance, even a brisk 3 am morning walk along the streets of NYC.

Hudson feels that when we are in the city that never sleeps we should take full advantage!

He continued to have fevers off and on yesterday and we ended up having to give Motrin and Tylonel just to break them. Which was a huge bummer. We also noticed the injection site was much larger and angry than his first 4 shots.

No worries though because we had to go back Saturday at 3 am when he fevered again for more cultures and the doctors looked at the injection site and said that it looks normal. They asked if Hudson will walk on it or treats it like it hurts and Bryan and I both had to chuckle because Hudson’s pain tolerance is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. It doesn’t hurt on Hudson’s pain scale. It absolutely would hurt on ours. We saw the same nurses as the morning prior and they were so happy to see Hudson (although sad circumstance of him having to get poked again). They came to the conclusion that he is just that happy of a boy. Regardless of the time. He’s always ready for a good time!

We are home and so far he has not had a fever today. I’m hoping we are over the slump from the vaccine, rhinovirus and his pneumonia. Please pray for no more fevers. My mama heart can’t handle seeing him have to get poked again. Selfishly, Bryan and I would also really like to not go on an adventure at 3 am again. Despite Hudson’s ability to rally anytime of day! Haha

Please pray that MSK doesn’t call us with news that the cultures are growing something; prompting an admission to Mayo.

We are anxiously waiting for his next scans to be scheduled. We know the next vaccine will be August 1st. Scans will likely be 3 weeks before that.

We did get a notification that Huddy’s bone marrow biopsies came back clear from any metastatic neuroblastoma! We are so so happy to receive that news. That’s a huge blessing. And definitely a mood booster with the iffy scan we had.

Thank you all for your prayers. We appreciate you lifting us up in prayer; especially our super hero boy.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. I hope you all celebrate your day however that looks for you! You deserve it. 💐
