Today marks 2 full years since she was diagnosed.
This morning I asked Harper how she wants to acknowledge this season each year (May 3rd we got that call to take her right to the Riley, May 4th we got the official diagnosis, May 5th she had her port put in and we told the boys everything 💔)
She picked May 4th, she remembers cousins visiting her and the day she got to see the boys and of course…. May the forth be with you 😉 (Star Wars day). She also chose to celebrate this day each year, marking how far she’s come, the battles she’s fought and finding gratitude in God and all who supported us in incredible ways, each day.
As I look back on pictures, I can vividly remember our feelings, the shear fear and panic that filled our lives. The unfamiliar smell of the hospital that I would come to know like a second home, or the great unknown of her life and ours. I can also see the love that we felt, immediately. The meals that poured in, the huge financial support, the help with our house, and the boys.
So today we will keep reclaiming this day of celebration and gratitude! We will likely have Harper’s requested Star Wars themed food- Han Burgers, light saber pretzel rods, obi wan cannolis, etc. 😂
She is almost all healed up from her port removal and her iv blood draw this week went so so well!! 🙌
We feel like one of the lucky ones who gets to celebrate this day. So thank you- to everyone who continues to lift us up! Word cant explain how grateful we are.
