It was a whirlwind of a day.
Hannah had 2 appointments this afternoon.
1) audiology
2) echocardiogram
We got to the hospital a bit early so we were able to have a Starbucks stop with our bestie, Rilyn! I hate that she is at the hospital again, but hopefully this new chemo won’t be so hard on her body.
The audiology appointment went so well! Hannah did great. She used to hate having the small headphones put in her ear. Some things get easier as she gets older, and this is one of them. Hard to believe she was doing it at age 2.
If you’re new here- Hannah had a ton of chemotherapy. And a few of the ones she got are known to cause hearing loss- (Cisplatin). Also, her clinical trial drug (DFMO) is known to cause temporary hearing loss. Her hearing was monitored a lot- and I’m happy to say her hearing seems great in both ears. I’m not sure how she managed to squeeze out of treatment without any hearing loss- but we take all the wins we can get.
The echocardiogram was easy too. She watched tv and our tech was wonderful. She told Hannah everything she was doing. Hannah calls these “jelly belly” tests. That’s how we differentiate between all of this junk.
Her Pittsburgh oncologist called me as we were ordering dinner and said she read both reports and everything looks great. Her heart function is normal and her hearing is great in both ears. ❤️
Tomorrow morning - Abigail gets her expander in. And then next week- we head to Cleveland for the big scans.
I’m proud of Hannah. This stuff is big- and she’s small.
