Hannah and I had a video visit this afternoon. Dr. Zahler shared her screen and reviewed the scans with us. Hannah seemed pretty interested in all of that and was asking questions about the various types of scans that she got and what they look like.
So- like I eluded to before, Hannah’s scans are CLEAR- and she is 2.5 years off treatment and remains disease free.
We are so happy to head into summer with this news.
There are some minor things that we will be keeping an eye on over the next few years. Her thyroid being one of them. Additionally, her weight is still struggling- so she may end up on an appetite stimulant again to see if we can increase that at all. The thing is- she is actually my good eater. I guess she just needs more.
Lastly, she has low bone density- or osteopenia. So basically, we are going to start with a multivitamin that has more vitamin D, and she may need to have a DXA scan- which stands for dual energy xray absorptiometry bone scan. I absolutely had to look this up.
I’m not too worried at the moment. All of her labs, bloodwork and scans are being sent to our oncologist in Pittsburgh and then we have an appointment with her June 13. So we hope to get more info on how we can get Hannah on the right track with her bones and growth.
These are small challenges. Compared to the big picture, Hannah’s doing so well and she’s fortunate to only have these minor health issues.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and good vibes. I’ll update again in June!
We got to have our annual cancer family Memorial Day picnic yesterday. So thankful that rilyn was sent home from the hospital so we could still do it- we had the best time. These families are everything to me.
