Journal entry by Nathan Mansell —
Hey everyone, I have more good updates on Haddie! Monday, they met with the MD over the ICU and went over the CT scan. It showed that the abscesses in her lungs are smaller and the abscesses in her brain are the same (but stable). Her blood clots also remain the same. She was able to be moved out of the ICU into the infectious disease ward. They were able to do this because he felt the risk of complications has reduced over the last few days, but there are obviously still significant risks so she should remain in the hospital. He mentioned that in about two weeks it might be possible to consider a medical transfer to the US (as long as she has immediate hospital care). He expects her to be on oral anticoagulants for at least 6 months and likely to be physically weak for months, as well. There is a long term risk of lung cavities left by the abscesses, but that's a bridge to cross later.
Yesterday, she was finally transferred to a new room but then today was sent to another hospital for a consult on her clots. The latest assessment from the MD is that she is still dealing with some paralysis of one of the muscles in her tongue, which is obviously contributing to her challenges. They do not believe this is permanent. She has been prescribed PT for her tongue muscles. We will update you as we hear more about the prognosis/plan for the remaining jugular vein clots.
As far as Haddie care team personnel goes, Lawson has flown home after a heroic trip across the pond. I cant express my gratitude for his willingness to go and support/advocate for Haddie. He showed tremendous amounts of love and sacrifice. Maddie and Tamu remain in Paris for now.
By way of update on Lisa, Haddie's friend, she is having surgery tomorrow to clear out her carotid blockage. Please pray for her.
Again, thank you so much for your care and prayers. You guys are amazing.
