Hello-  We figured it would be easiest to have one place to keep loved ones updated on dad's journey. Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragment- we are so blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!

Brenna and I didn't think we could get through speaking today, but we wanted to take a moment and express our sincere gratitude for all of the support you have given our family these last few difficult weeks. We have been so uplifted by all the messages of encouragement and gifts we have received, and we greatly appreciate all of you who took your precious time to come to the visitation or the funeral- many of you traveling such great distances. It meant the world to our family having so many people who meant so much to us and to our dad there.

We loved hearing stories about dad and the impact he had on your life. For us- he was just dad. A dad who impacted nearly every thread of my life- from my hobbies to my choice of career to our family life- but the biggest imprint is not on what I do, but rather my sense of who I am- a child of God. My dad reflected our Father's love to me by being a safe place- always there with a listening ear and the absolute best hugs, supporting me endlessly in anything I ever did, and never passing up a moment to tell me he loved me or was proud of me.

As Brenna described this week, Dad had a superpower; he was able to endlessly and effortlessly pour into others and somehow come out with his bucket full rather than drained...Dad was humble, never thought of himself as above anyone, and always had a genuine interest in others which I think is what made it so easy for people to feel great in his presence. I always did.

A few people asked for a direct link to the service- so we wanted to post that. (Another huge thank you to First Church in Pella for their amazing hospitality this week). Also I'll include the link to the Josiah created with songs that dad arranged for our kids' baptisms- which will forever be one of my favorite gifts ever. Three of songs we have video of dad playing and one of them we are hugely thankful to Barbara Boertje DeVries (one of dad's all-time favorite students) for recording.

Blessings,
Lindsy
