It has been over a year since Grant was diagnosed! We are all so grateful he is still with us and feeling good. First, some very exciting news. Cale and Lexi got engaged! We are so happy to have her officially enter our family. No word on dates yet but they are thinking it will be a small wedding.
Grant had a follow up MRI mid February. Unfortunately, the lesion is still growing. We had a meeting with Dr. Nye. We discussed our options and decided to try a clinical trial verses standard of care treatment. It turns out the AGILE trial closed but a different trial re-opened up. When Grant was diagnosed a year ago, Dr. Moore had mentioned this immunotherapy trial but at that time it had been closed. As we were informed, these trials open and close at a moment's notice.
This trial will consist of two immunotherapy drugs along with targeted radiation therapy. He will start this Thursday with the infusion and have radiation Monday, Wednesday and Friday the following week. From there he will receive the immunotherapy drugs every 28 days. We are praying the side effects will be mild. Grant is still feeling good. He doesn't have any new symptoms. On another positive note, he has stopped wearing the Optune device. This has been a bit hard for him to get used to. He keeps thinking he is missing something, likening it to having his child wander off.
We are planning a fun trip over Spring Break. Hopefully, we will have some exciting pictures to post next time. We will keep you updated on how this treatment goes.
