Journal
I have been in a hurry up and wait situation since October, which isn't fun.
Here's what we know: I have circulating tumor DNA. My tumor markers have doubled and are now in the high range. My CTs don't show anything concerning. I finally convinced my oncologist to get me a PET scan (which I have NEVER had before). The scan showed metabolic activity in my lungs, liver, left pelvis and mandible. Everybody knows that all sorts of things can show activity on these scans. I did have Covid recently, which hopefully accounts for the lung nodules, but we don't know. Some of the nodules had activity and some didn't. There was at least one nodule in my lungs pre-Covid (which I'm just now being told about).
My oncologist is very concerned but also at a loss on what to do. He had a surgeon review my scans and he confirmed that there are masses on my liver, ovary, lungs and jaw area but they are too small to biopsy. So now we wait a few weeks and rescan. They also got my permission to retrieve DNA from my original tumor so they have it ready when the time comes. Basically, regular chemo might not work anymore since it came back so quick so we might have to do something outside the box.
Obviously, I'm very frustrated. They have been keeping a close eye on me so they can catch it early. But now we wait for it to grow.
Thank you all for continuing to care and pray for my family. Love you all!!!
