I hope you are all staying safe, well and sane during this time of social distancing.

Garr had a PET-CT scan and blood work done on Friday, and today he had a visit with Dr Banerjee to review his results. His scan showed no cancer activity! He still has some remaining fibrous scar tissue in his chest, but it is benign. Hopefully it will continue to break down and be absorbed by his body.
This is the great news that we have been waiting for! After 6 months of having chemo every two weeks, it is finished - over - done!
Because of the size of his tumor, radiation treatment is usually given after chemo as a preventative measure. However, because of the location of his tumor and his young age, radiation could do long term damage to his lungs and heart. Dr. Banerjee is recommending he not do radiation, and Garrison is in agreement. However, he plans on seeking a second opinion with an oncology radiologist before making a final decision.
He will continue to see his oncologist for regular check ups every few months for the next 5 years. His focus now is on exercising and getting his strength back, and giving his body the rest and nutrition it needs to heal.
On behalf of our family, I want to sincerely thank every one of you who have supported Garrison, and us, with your acts of kindness and prayers. It's been a rough 7 months, but he's at the finish line, and it feels wonderful. We are celebrating tonight!
Much Love,
Jen
