I was busy in the next room this morning when I heard an unusual sound and quickly went to check on Galen.

I struggle with protecting Galen’s privacy and often not sure how much to say or what pictures to post yet, we are living real life over here and…I also want to keep you updated on Galen’s amazing progress.

Some days are easy and some days are really hard.
We cry and then we laugh and then we cry again. Most times it’s in the solace and privacy of our home…Just the two of us.
But, I will say…we have more days that are easy versus the hard days and for that I’m thankful.

So…after hearing strange sounds I went to check on Galen and found him sitting at the table and with his head in his hands he was literally sobbing.
I immediately asked him what was wrong. Are your feeling sick? No. Are you hurting some place? Are you sad? Yes.
He happened to see a family picture on the wall and it triggered a tsunami of emotions. Emotions of the loss he was experiencing in his life. The loss of his normal routine, working as a salesman selling Hoop buildings, finishing the project he started with his garage, Planting the garden, playing pickle ball, etc.
I know he wishes he could help me when he sees me struggling to do a task that he normally would be doing. I can see in his eyes his concern for me. It’s what our guys do, right? They want to be the bigger stronger person, protect and make our life easy. At least that’s what Galen always did.

So… we both had a good cry, had a long talk, reminded ourselves how far he came and went about our day.

His brother Tim stopped by a bit later which put a smile on his face and we had an unexpected visit from Kurt Hershey who made our day extra special. Thanks Kurt for taking time to hang out even in the middle of your busy work day.

On Monday Galen had an evaluation with the therapist at Brynmawr after not being there fo 5 weeks and it went well. He will
resume therapy twice a week and is scheduled till Aug 8th
Each therapist was impressed on the progress he made during our month stay in Fla.
Lots of bike riding (three wheel bike) walking and our own speech therapy all paid off. Plus our amazing chiropractic whom he saw 4 times a week.

In the mean time Galen fills his days with home therapy, by yours truley each day, takes a half mile, plus walk tinkering in his garage organizing, keeping the flowers watered, etc. and of course naps in between which is a big part of his healing.

Thanks again for all your prayers and love for us and our family. Yesterday after a busy day of appointments we came home to a meal ready to eat sitting on our porch. Thanks Karen!
I’m always so amazed at the acts of kindness shown and think of them as a hug from Jesus letting us know he has not left us or forgotten.

We are so grateful for the progress Galen is making and will continue to make.

🌺Praise reports.
He can walk anywhere without assistance or a cane. Even steps!

He is able to communicate more each week it seems. Somedays it flows better then others and… we celebrate each word and new sentence. Not to say there are still times when he trys hard to tell us something and we just don’t get it. 😢

His comprehension gets better every week .

There is more feeling in his hand and arm.

🙏Prayer request
For speech to be back to normal.
The enemy will not have the last say. Galen Will speak boldly of the things of God and have a loud voice proclaiming his Goodness.

Hand and arm to do what they were created to do. Galen has a lot he can do for the kingdom and needs two arms and two hands to do what is set before him.

Pray for all issues of the heart to correct itself.

PS. Please continue to pray for our son Randall who deals with some of the same issues with his left hand and also balance and..migraines to stop attacking his body and that he will be blessed with a job that he feels of value.

Love, Vern
