On March 7, surrounded by her husband and children, Esther Kary went home to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 58 years. Esther was born to Erwin and Rose Giebler on September 12, 1961 in Kelowna, BC. She spent most of her young years there until moving to Olds for grade 12. In the years following, Esther attended Bible school in Edmonton at North American Baptist College and then went on to complete her medical secretary certificate from Okanagan College before returning again to the Olds area. On October 27, 1984 Esther married Trevor Kary and together they farmed and raised their four children settling northwest of Olds for the next 35 years. In all her years, though they seemed much too short to those left behind, Esther loved deeply, served graciously, shared her home with those in need, prayed faithfully, walked humbly with her God, suffered patiently through a difficult cancer diagnoses, and died well and now has received everything that was promised her in Christ.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-9)

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Trevor and her children Michael and Melissa Lorusso, John and Mandy Adams, Matt and Sarah Priddle, and Mitch Kary and her seven grandchildren as well so many family and friends.

A celebration of Esther’s life will be held at Olds First Baptist Church on Friday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Olds First Baptist Church - Seminary Scholarship Fund (5005 53rd Ave, Olds AB T4H 1H6) or Olds and District Hospice Society.

The family is especially thankful for Dr. Clarence Graff, Dr. Leoni Kelly, Dr. Jaco Hoffman, the nursing staff at Olds Hospital, the exceptional care at Tom Baker Cancer Center and Olds and District Hospice. As well we thank our extended family, our church family at Olds First Baptist, and the local support of many friends within the community.
