Journal

Good morning friends and family. First, I need to ask, did one of you send us a beautiful money tree? We received one at our home, but there was no name attached to it, and we would like to personally thank you.

Second, some of you have asked how to give a memorial gift in Mom's honor to Young Life online. You can go to giving.younglife.org/thegoodway and give through that link. It will take you to account 1159, the Spiritual Formation account.

Finally, an update on my mom and her home. We signed with a realtor in Harrison on Tuesday last week, Ryan Caughron. (We highly recommend him, if you are looking for a realtor in Boone County.) By Friday, we had four offers on Mom's house, two for over asking price. Yesterday, the new owner moved into Mom's house. I keep looking at the calendar to make sure I am getting this right, but this means Mom's house has a new owner two weeks after Mom graduated to glory. We find this all hard to believe, but I also think my mom would be very proud and glad. She worked so hard to make her house into a lovely home, and it became a treasure that reflected her spirit, vision and hard work.  She was the best version of that Proverbs 31 woman, and now she truly "can laugh at the days to come." We "honor her for all that her hands have done" and may "her works bring her praise" at the gates of the city where she now lives.

Yesterday was the first day in a month that Grant and I were able to have real rest. We are grateful. As we watch the presidential election continue to play out, our prayer is that the citizens of this country would begin to see one another as neighbors and friends instead of enemies and strangers. This is the heart of Jesus, that we would see in one another his image and treat one another with dignity, respect and honor--regardless of political parties or any other kind of label or affiliation.  His kingdom is not of this world. May we begin to see more clearly the reality my mother now knows full well.

God bless you each this day.

Donna and Family
