Journal entry by Darlene French

God is so good!

We just formally got the news that the mass is totally resolved.  Not more tumors!  Dr. Sinha showed us the original PET Scan with the mass in his throat and extending into the lymph node.  It looked like 2 large 200 watt lightbulbs! Then she showed us the current scan - nothing!

The oncologist had originally told us they would likely keep his port in for a year just in case.  Today she ordered it to be taken out next Thursday!  That action told us she is confident it is gone and not coming back!

Eric is officially in remission!  He will see the ENT once a month to start then once a quarter then annually. Each time he will get a scope as a precaution, just to ensure it is not growing back.

Eric is still not eating but Dr. Sinha gave him targets and he always does better with targets.  The goal is to be 95% fed via his mouth (even if it is with Ensure) by November. She wants him totally off using the feeding tube in December.  If he can go a a month without using the tube and still keeping his weight, she will have it removed in January.

We cannot begin to thank you all for the prayers, well wishes and assistance throughout this journey.  They say when things get tough you know who your friends are- well we have been blessed with sooo many wonderful friends.  We couldn’t have gotten through this without you. I could write a book with all the wonderful things our friends did for us.  You are all amazing!  We look forward to making many more happy memories with all of you!

Much love,
Eric and Darlene
