Our family had an exciting day yesterday. After 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy infusions, oral chemotherapy, endless doctor visits, hospital stays, needle pokes, biopsies and many other ugly cancer related experiences Emma was able to ring a bell signifying the end of treatment. We allowed ourselves to celebrate and feel comfortable. It was an awesome day.
We have had unwavering support helping Emma get to this point. I'd like to thank
Connie Wifall,
Niki Lynnes and my aunt Jeanne for being available whenever we needed help. Our employers,
Bagan Strinden Vision and
Moorhead Area Public Schools, have been unbelievably understanding during this time, thank you does not seem sufficient. Emma's doctors and nurses have been there for the good appointments and the really bad ones - thank you for saving our daughter. Some of Lisa's high school friends organized a benefit for Emma in June of 2022 that has helped with hospital expenses - thank you. Many of you donated to Emma's lend a hand up benefit - thank you. To all of you that prayed for our little girl - thank you.
As we turn the page as a family and look toward Emma's future, we continue to pray for other families currently on their cancer journey. You will be in our thoughts.
Thank you all. Adam
On another note, just to give an update on myself (lisa), I have 3 more infusions left. My last one was a bit rough so I'm hoping with some adjustments in premeds and hydration, it won't be so hard. Other than the few days after chemo, I feel pretty good. In mid August I'll head to Mayo in Rochester for a week of appointments, including a lumpectomy. At the time of my lumpectomy, they will check to see if there are any cancer cells still present. Let's hope not. After that I'll begin radiation in Fargo.
