I’m just getting ready to leave Mountain Iron after a few day stay with Emilie. It was a great mother-daughter bonding time. She did work while I did some cleaning, we took a trip to Duluth, and got in a few walks. Yesterday we walked the Mesabi trail but turned around when an owl swooped down over our heads and flew to a near by tree to glare at us. Must have interrupted his hunting.

Update on Emilie- Her proton radiation at Rochester ended April 7th. Steve and I moved her back to Mountain Iron. April through June was difficult due to recovery from radiation and beginning Tamoxifen. Now things are better and she is adjusting to the new norm of the permanent side effects of her cancer treatments and as well as those from her post-cancer medications. She is planning to have her reconstruction next year so she has summer break to recover.

Emilie is back on campus, working in person and very happy to have direct contact with her students and co-workers. She worked through most of her treatment and surgery, but remotely.
