Elliott’s Story

Site created on July 14, 2018

On Tuesday, July 10th, our sweet Elliott was admitted to the ICU and was put in a medically induced coma. We discovered that he had been having seizures (with no outward signs, just happening internally) due to dehydration which resulted in some blood clots in a vein in the brain. They have put him on a strong antiseizure medication which did successfully stop the seizure activity.
On Friday evening, July 13, Elliott was taken out of sedation and his breathing tube removed.  He is still in the ICU.
Please see the nightly updates each night to follow Elliott's journey.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Elizabeth Carter

Everyone is at home and in their own beds! (Except Grayson who is on a pallet on our floor...gonna have to break this habit soon enough 😋).  It feels surreal to be home and to have Elliott back to his little self.
Tomorrow we go for our first of many followups, to Dr.Guyton, Elliott's regular pediatrician.  Friday we follow up with the opthimologist.  Then Tuesday we will meet with Dr.Shroer, the genetic/metabolic specialist.  Between all of the appointments, medications/vitamins and special diet, things will be busier than we are used to. But, that is a small price to pay to have our boy back.  We will figure it out.
So....this will be the last of my nightly updates *for now*.  As we continue to learn more,  I will post some here and there.  Thanks again (I really can't say it enough) to all who cheered us on through this crazy and unexpected journey.  We will be forever grateful.
