Welcome to Ed’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportHi all. I thought it was high time I wrote an update. A lot has happened since my last post.
Ed was complaining of back pain quite a lot. We both thought it was due to him sleeping on the sofa and the lack of activity. I would rub Ben Gay on it and it seemed to help. We decided to get an emergency appointment at his cardiologist just to be sure it was nothing. The cardiologist didn't seem overly concerned but ordered a few tests to be scheduled whenever. A week later Ed just didn't seem himself and was now complaining of chest pain. We went to our family practice and they were concerned and ordered a STAT CT scan. Bottom line, his aortic graph had a large leak. We were sent to York Hospital, arriving around 7. Ed was getting prepped for surgery by 10. They were able to go in through a vein in his leg (thank goodness), and repaired the graph adding another 5cm to it. That was on April 9th. Last weeks news was a toe infection that took us to Urgent Care. He is on an antibiotic and pray it works! Between both things Ed hasn't been able to use his prosthetic.
Speaking of prosthetic, we are working on getting him fitted for a new type of socket. We covet your prayers that insurance will come through for this.
And here is more news. After much prayer and council of friends we have decided to sell our precious home and opt for single floor living. We have decided to go to apartment living for now so that there is no maintenance for us. It breaks my heart but there is a peace in the surrender. We know that downsizing will free us. Now comes the hard part and I dread it, feel overwhelmed by it. So if you can please pray that we can get this done seamlessly and that we will land in a place where we can feel at home.
Whew! That's about it for now. We love you all and appreciate your investment into our lives!
Love,
Ed and Karen
