Journal

As most of you have noticed, we have been pretty quiet ever since Dylan had his last round of chemotherapy on January 29th.  We were excited because we had landed and he was supposed to be done with all the bad stuff; the sickness, the loss of hair, and the rapid weight gain (60 pounds) from the steroids he had to take.  We were excited to get to the gate and finally get off of the plane taking us on this journey, only to be told that we had to wait on the tarmac because there was a delay.  The delay occurred when he went for his final PET scan in February.  He had the scan and when he met with his oncologist he was told that there were two lymph nodes in his groin that looked suspicious and could possible still be some cancer.  We were told that the only way to determine if there was still cancer was to have one removed and have a biopsy done on it.  So there we sat, knowing that the end was in sight, yet having to wait until we could get off the plane.

He had his surgery on April 5th at the UW Hospital.  Everything went well and there we were, waiting again for the results.  Today he got the call, he is CANCER FREE and we can deplane.  Not only did they confirm he no longer had cancer, they had sent his lymph node off to another clinic to get a second confirmation that he is free and clear.

I was at work when he got the news, but I am so happy his dad was here for him when he got the call.  He was emotional and shared his emotions with his father.  This truly was one hell of a journey and I couldn’t be prouder of him for how positive and how strong he was throughout the entire process.  Without his positivity, I know it would have been much rougher for me.

We want to thank all of our family and friends for all of the support throughout this journey!  Let’s keep praying for clean scans in the years to come.....but for now, we are going to enjoy life!

Since he has been done with chemo, he has a full head of hair again and has already lost 20 of the 60 pounds he gained.  He is looking and feeling good!

Thank you from Dylan and the entire Gray Family!
