Dorrice’s Story

Site created on November 19, 2020

Dorrice went to Wooster hospital November 1 with shortness of breath and coughing up blood. They found a 6 cm mass between her heart and lungs along with lesions on her lungs.  She was transferred to Akron General for further testing. After draining fluid from around her lungs, a biopsy of the mass and many other tests she was sent home on steroids. November 17 she had an appointment with the Cleveland Clinic oncologist and was diagnosed with angiosarcoma, a rare cancer of the blood vessels. She will start chemotherapy after Thanksgiving with an oncologist in Wooster.  She is currently struggling with shortness of breath, fatigue, and coughing up blood. We are planning to use Caring Bridge to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, words of encouragement, and prayers.

Growing up, Dorrice attended the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church, and had recently been attending Living Water Church in Dalton. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, she would spend hours at the gym exercising, a hobby which she genuinely loved.
