Donna’s Story

Site created on July 18, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We're going to use it to keep everyone updated on Mom's condition in the days ahead.

On Saturday, July 3, Mom and Dad were in a serious car accident when another vehicle hit the driver's side of the car Mom was driving. They had to be extricated from the vehicle, and we're transported to Piedmont Hospital Midtown in Columbus, GA. Mom was admitted with a broken pelvis, five fractured ribs and multiple hairline fractures of her lower spine.

Her recovery has been mostly positive. She has had to have more than a liter fluid drained from her lungs two different times, but we hope they have discovered the cause. She also has a lot of pain from the fractures, but she continues to improve. We foresee her transfer to a Rehab center this week.

As always, Mom is praising the Lord and ministering to those she encounters. She has a whole parade of doctors, nurses, techs and others who drop in to say hello.

Journal entry by Karlene Turkington

Big day today!  Mom was discharged from the hospital and transferred to an acute rehabilitation facility.  The plan is for her to spend a couple of weeks there building up her strength and learning to accomplish daily tasks with a broken pelvis, 5 broken ribs and spinal fractures as she slowly heals.
