Bob here.

The Lord continues to bless us beyond measure - but then, is that any real surprise?

We had our monthly meeting with the neuro-oncologist this afternoon. She reported that Friday's MRI shows that the cancer continues to "sleep." Where the cancer was back in April 2023, before her surgery, is now only scar tissue. The only negative is that her platelet count was starting to drop, so we are delaying round 10 of the chemo pills for at least one week to give her bone marrow a chance to recover. Her next MRI is scheduled for July.

Diane and I were both braced for potentially bad news with today's appointment, so this news feels especially good.

The doctor told us that Diane's condition was compromised both by the brain cancer and the abdominal mass. She was in the hospital from March 21 through April 7.  That makes for 17 days. If the estimate holds, it will take Diane at least 51 days to recover, likely longer.

Those 17 days were long, and she lost weight and muscle while in the hospital. Our work is cut out as we return to daily walks, protein-intensive meals, and continued loving attention. We are up for the challenge.

Jesus reminded us to "not worry about tomorrow" (Matthew 6:34), and admittedly, that is difficult to do with a terminal diagnosis. Yet, for all of our worrying, what has it brought us? Nothing. Instead, we wait for the Lord (Psalm 27:14), ever mindful of his love for us.

While every "tomorrow" can, might, or possibly will bring new challenges and heartaches, the one sure thing is that "tomorrow" brings new opportunities to glorify God - even in the challenges and heartaches. We continue to opt for certainty!

Diane often says to those asking how she is doing: "One day at a time." We cherish our time together. We pray for strength and thank God for what we have endured. Even in difficulty, we find solace in the promises and devotion of our Lord. The crises make us all the more mindful of God.

Your prayers have reached God's throne. Please continue them and join us in thanking God for all he has done.
