Journal entry by Robert Fleischmann —
Bob here.
Are you ready for this? I brought Diane home this afternoon. According to both the physician and the therapists, she is making a remarkable recovery from her abdominal surgery. She will continue therapy at home starting on Tuesday, but the GREAT NEWS is that she is back home. She came in the door, headed for her chair in the living room, sat down, and within a couple of minutes, fell asleep for about 75 minutes. She woke up, I fixed some scrambled eggs and toast for her (her choices), and settled in to watch a little TV.
The therapy folks say I need to supervise, but do not need to help - and that includes navigating the stairway. I plan to be with her every step for the next few days, but she is doing very well.
Even though her return home was much faster than I anticipated, I got a lot done to prepare for her to come back. Incredibly, I was ready for an early return.
We thank you all for your prayers and ask that they continue. We count it a great blessing to have her home a couple of weeks before we expected. We still need God's help to navigate the challenges that lie ahead. We pray for His will to be done and remain confident that however it plays out, it will be for our good. You can't beat that deal!
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Diane's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
