Journal entry by Freda Herrera —
On December 28, 2020, the love of my life, my Desi passed away. He fought brain cancer for nearly two and a half years. Because of this battle, his immune system was extremely compromised. Unfortunately, he contracted covid and his body could not overcome it.
Desi was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and coach. Being on the baseball field brought him so much joy. He refused to sit at home and continued to coach, regardless of the risk. It meant that much to him. The number of lives he has touched is immeasurable.
The boys and I appreciate all the texts, messages, cards, meals, and love sent our way. Although we are missing Desi every minute of every day, we are lucky to have our wonderful families and baseball community supporting us.
Sincerely,
Freda
