Welcome to Denny’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportDenny was finally discharged on Wednesday , May 29th. Ryan came to help me get him into the house, and that went much better than I anticipated. I was so happy to have him home --I didn't realize how difficult it would be for both of us.
The first night he slipped off the recliner and landed on the floor ( I'll call this fall #1.) On Thursday, our new living room furniture arrived --I had prepared for that before I brought him home. No falls on Thursday , however, on Thursday evening he took my meds by mistake and I called poison control to make sure he'd be OK. Thankfully, when the nurse arrived on Friday ,she looked over his list of meds and mine that he took and he was fine. He did sleep a lot on Friday because he had 30mg of melatonin in him.
I was beginning to think perhaps he came home too soon. There were 3 more falls but he was able to get up with my help. He turned the corner on Saturday. He took a shower with my supervision and that went much better than expected. Success at last. Sunday was another good day--now we're getting hopeful.
He's using the walker more now instead of the wheelchair. I'm doing leg exercises with him to help strengthen his muscles. I'm hopeful that every day will show more improvement.
He has an appointment with the Neurologist on Thursday at 8:40 AM , following up on the mild encephalopathy and how it's effected his brain. Say a little prayer that I can get him into the car without difficulty.
He will be getting PT 3x's a week and a nurse will come 2x's a week. We're feeling a bit more positive now --hope we can keep that momentum.
Thank you once again for all of the thoughts and prayers for us. God is good !!!
