Today is April 30 and  I'm so happy to report Denny's progress in this month. He's now  using a regular wheelchair , instead of the highback one. He's doing very well with PT and OT. 

He felt so confident that he could get out of bed by himself on Friday --unfortunately, he landed on the floor--just sitting there waiting for someone to get him. I  received a call from the nurse on duty  and her message was -"he's OK and not hurt !! I was on my way to the car and called her back immediately .He lost his balance and just slipped down on the side of the bed.

After being on and "in" this journey, I can't help but think how fortunate we are to have the ability to rise in the morning ( mostly unaided)  and move about  during the day  without limitations. I'm hoping he'll be discharged  in May. Matt graduates from Lehigh on May 19th and  we're hoping he can attend. I have a wheelchair for him but I'm not sure he'll have enough stamina  for that long day. So, I'm praying for continued improvement and strength for him.

I can't thank  everyone enough for your thoughts and prayers for his recovery. This really knocked him down but he's a fighter !!! We've said it  before --he's like a cat with 9 lives and I'm grateful to God for that !!
