A year ago today I got the results back from my colonoscopy. Hearing I had cancer was earth shattering. But then I came to discover it was
mucosal melanoma, an extremely rare and aggressive form of what is usually considered skin cancer (In other words, I've somehow developed melanoma in the one place the sun doesn't shine! Obviously, I AM a freaking ray of sunshine from the inside out.)
It's been one heck of a year. Despite not getting clear margins from surgery I am currently considered NED (no evidence of disease). Between treatments and surgery there are some side effects that are causing some challenges that may last longer than originally thought. I'm still on treatments but those may be coming to an end soon. Possibly sooner than was originally planned. I have some appointments next week and we will know more then.
