Journal

Dear friends,

Thank you again for your wonderful support and love. I truly felt lifted and carried through the last three days!  I saw my oncologist this afternoon.  My scan results brought good news but also a couple of things that require follow up.

Good news: my bone tumors have not grown at all!  She said that my increased pain is probably the result of the shots I give myself to increase white blood cell count (which is lowered by my cancer medication).  Tylenol relieves this pain so it’s not hard to manage.  Also, good news: there is no evidence of any tumors in my lungs (another place that breast cancer tends to metastasize).

First item for follow up: (1) there are two tiny spots on my liver that weren’t there on my last scan.  They may or may not be cancer.  My oncologist followed up with another radiologist for a second opinion and they decided it is best to just wait until my next scan (in three months) and see if the spots are still there, have grown, etc.  If so, they will follow up with a liver MRI.

Second item for follow up: there is enlarged tissue in one of my nasal passages.  This could be a cancerous growth but could also just be inflammation from a sinus infection or allergies.  She has referred me to an ENT to visually check this out.  Hopefully I can get an appointment soon!

These follow-up items are a little scary but not terrifying.  I hope I can continue to be patient and feel the grace to be grateful that I generally feel well and am able to enjoy my life in many ways!  This is made infinitely easier by all of your prayers, good wishes, wise counsel, and love.  Thank you so, so much!

Debbie
