Journal entry by Edie Chandler —
Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. The surgery in Boston went well today, the medical folks say. We so welcome the access to fine medical care.
Of course, even when surgery goes well, it's still surgery, and so Dave is a bit sore. As he says, from the neck down he feels fine. North of there, though, it feels something like someone moved his face -- which, to a degree, is what happened. He had a condition called ptosis, which is a drooping of the eyebrow. That sounds like not such a big deal, and compared to more serious conditions, that's true. Still, left untreated, it can cause problems with eye hygiene, which over time could compromise the health of the eye and, thus, vision. This was corrected today with the procedure.
The weather was an issue today. A storm is moving through New England, bringing snow, sleet, heavy rain, and high winds overnight. The weather system was just reaching the region when Edie started driving home this afternoon. Fortunately, the temperature warmed, precipitation changed over to rain, and driving conditions were manageable. We're now home for the night. We hope you, too, are enjoying the comforts of home as this New Year begins.
