It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the loss of our husband and father, David.  Dad passed away this evening just after 5:00, surrounded by his loving family.  He is now free from all pain and suffering, and for that we are deeply grateful.  We are stunned and heartbroken beyond words by this tragedy, but the swiftness of his passing is a mercy.  He spent his last conscious days happily tinkering in his garage and pulling his grandson around in his sled, memories we will cherish forever.

We are forever indebted to the care providers at Sanford USD Medical Center for their expertise, honesty, and compassion.  We have been blessed repeatedly in Sioux Falls with free meals, free childcare, and comfortable housing from complete strangers, and above all we have been surrounded by the love and support of everyone reading this.  We can say with complete certainty that God has carried us through this week.  We have been so blessed to hear how much Dad meant to every person whose life he touched, and for that we can never thank you enough.

So tonight, for Dave, raise a glass of good beer, turn on the tunes, and hug your family.  Life is much too short.
