Welcome to Cooper’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportCooper got the ok yesterday from his stem cell doctor to go back to SC. He was given a going away present of a shot to boost his white blood cell count for the trip home. We also learned that two of the three of his doctor’s patients getting stem cell transplants contracted Covid from a nurse while having the treatment. Cooper, fortunately, was the one not to get Covid. Apparently both patients survived but one was in the ICU for ten days.
Cooper is feeling better everyday but some of the effects of the chemo drugs will probably stay with him for another month or so. The doctor said that when his hair starts to grow again will be an indicator that the drug’s effects have worn off.
We will be leaving on the drive back to SC later this afternoon. All of us are looking forward to going home!
