I was hoping I wouldn’t have to make a huge update today, and I’m glad to say “stable” is the word of the day!
Superman has been having some behavioral issues and personality changes recently so his doctors decided we should just double check his brain and lab work, earlier than planned, to be safe.
We started with an endocrinology appointment yesterday and she was happy to see how he was growing and his hormone labs were all ok! ✅ not
Hormone related!
Conley had a brain MRI this morning followed by an appointment with his neurosurgeon Dr Yang. MRI looked very similar to the one done in September, meaning no tumor growth or ground! She is thinking his issues are behavioral. ✅ no tumor growth or fluid on the brain causing troubles!
Then we met with oncology and they agree with Dr Yang that the tumor is stable! We saw a new
Oncologist today and really liked her. She wants to have Conley try a small dose of anti anxiety medication to see if it helps “take the edge off” and allow him to breathe and think through before blowing up and becoming aggressive. We are honestly willing to do anything and try anything that can help our boy get through this spell(and we’re kind of sick of being punching bags for him) and help him recognize the behavior and be able to stop it or at least voice his emotion or needs. The oncologist reassured us that we have done everything appropriately thus far and we just need to continue to help him and love him. We’re also increasing his nerve medicine to see if maybe the “tingles” he is feeling in his leg and foot are aggregating factors to the behaviors that he just can’t explain. 🤞🏻
We also met with a behavioral analyst with the cancer center who basically deals with this everyday. We visited with her for quite a while just explaining what has been going on and Conley even answered a few questions for her. She plans to visit with his school about what they’ve seen and kind of puzzle together the information she has from everyone, then make a treatment plan. There is an option for us to continue treatment with her via telemedicine so this will be helpful since there is not anyone in this specialty in Bismarck.
Overall, we are breathing a sigh of relief that this is nothing related to his tumor! The consensus is that he is physically healthy (and improving his weak side) and we just need to continue to support him through this episode of healing. ❤️ We are so grateful and thankful to everyone who continues to pray for and support our own Superman!
