Newest Update

Journal entry by Amber Staigle

Wow! I realized it has been a while since an update, which is not a bad thing as that means nothing has changed in our world ☺️

The main event that happened was Conley had his tonsils and adenoids out the week before Christmas. I have to say I was not prepared for how much pain he was in for the first few days after 🙁 Superman didn’t mind all the jello, ice cream, and frozen cool whip however. He has since healed up nicely and I think he is swallowing better, but still clears his throat constantly. We will give him a little more time and then see if we need to recheck.
He received his Turtle brace from PT a few weeks back. This is a cool new brace that they use in place of serial casting (which Conley got a sore on his heel last time) and it just zips on and off. They heat this brace each week at therapy and adjust it to give his right ankle/leg more stretch.  This past week he stretched above neutral which is the first time! We are all excited to see how this works for him.
Conley saw Dr Murphy yesterday and he thinks Conley is doing great! Superman got a new regular brace the beginning of January and Dr Murphy wanted to see how he was walking in it. We did get some minor adjustments to it to try to get his ankle to have more movement. Dr Murphy thinks that his next brace can have a formal hinge!
Yesterday, when I picked up Superman from school, he decided to show me he can walk up a few steps without using a handrail! It wasn’t pretty but he did it and was so proud of himself! I asked him when he started doing that. His response was “just now.” 😆

Conley’s next big appointments are at the end of March. We have a day in Fargo for his eye doctor and endocrinologist. It is kind of nice having a few months that aren’t filled with appointments (besides therapies).
Again, thank you all for continuing to pray for our boy! He’s making gains! ❤️
