Good evening, Friends!

The past several days have been pretty active here at the BRF.

  • On Tuesday, I wasn't as sore as I thought I'd be after Murph on Monday.... happy about that! Colleen did some exercising around the house while I coordinated some school stuff from home.
  • I also formally cancelled Colleen's spot on our upcoming Galapagos trip.... June 24-July 4. We've been planning this trip for about 2 years and currently have 17 travelers. I hated doing this but it was necessary.
  • For dinner, we met some of my teacher friends at Village Tavern and had a very enjoyable evening.
  • Wednesday, we learned that NONE of Colleen's in home PT, OT, or ST sessions counted against any Outpatient therapies with her insurance!!!! Woohoo!!! This means we don't have to divvy up a limited number of "remaining" sessions and ALL 130 insurance allotted sessions were available for the rest of this year.
  • Ethan dropped in for his weekly visit and helped me clear off the deck so the job I started last summer before Colleen's accident could finally get finished. That job is stripping and re-staining the deck.
  • For dinner, the IACUC brought Que Viva and it was FANTASTIC....both the food and their company.
  • Thursday was Colleen's MRA and that test only took 15'. Praying for the most positive of outcomes. 🙏🙏
  • Colleen then had her weekly massage at MyoCare and then we went to the Pinning Ceremony for my school's Nursing Fundamentals students who passed their CNA exam. Because of my overabundance of interactions with health care professionals this past year, the NF teachers asked if I'd consider being the keynote speaker to the graduates. I was very very honored and pray my comments were meaningful to them.
  • Today, Worth Painting, LLC arrived at 8am to begin stripping the rest of the deck. The weather forecast this weekend looks like it will cooperate and allow it to completely dry out before they begin staining on Monday.
  • Our friend, Rachel, also came by to continue finalizing her calendar for the 2 weeks I'll be in Kansas City at the AP Biology Read. Rachel is an RN who will daily help Mommy with caretaking things she's unable to do some while I'm gone. Prayers for them (& me) from June 5-18. Thank you.
  • The results of Colleen's MRA came in mid-afternoon but Dr Fargen wasn't able to share his thoughts because he was traveling out of town. I was told to expect his input on Monday. Sigh.....
  • Late in the afternoon, we went to the gym. Colleen did several laps and then hopped on the rower for 15 minutes (pic).
  • Tonight, our good friends, Jenny and John brought over an Italian dinner of lasagna and all the fixings. YUM!!!!!
  • Something of significance to note is that this week, Colleen has had more brain fog lift and is MUCH more like her original self....sassier with me, initiating more comments and frustrations with numerous things, spontaneous comments, etc. Ohhhhhhh, HOW I LOVE THIS!!!! More please!!!! 😁😁
  • Please continue to pray for Colleen's left shoulder, her chronic sore leg muscles from working them so hard, her complete restoration of voluntary nervous function, the complete ability to communicate as well as she once did, her short term memory, and sense of time. Please pray that her "fog" continues to dissipate...and sooner rather than later. Please pray for my friend (Kelly) with her heart and thyroid issues, Marie and family as she recovers from knee surgery, my former student (Ryon), my teacher friend (Carolyn), a different teacher friend (Chip), my colleague's father (Steward), my friend's nephew (Connor), Johnetta Forbes, and a different friend's wife who is battling cancer. Thank you.
