Chris’s Story

Site created on August 5, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. On March 20, 2019, Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma. His first round of chemo started 3/22/19 at UW hospital in Seattle alternating traditional chemo medications RCHOP/VRCAP. After 3 chemo rounds it was found the cancer cells weren’t responding and the cells were in a relapsed or refractory state. After a PET scan Chris began taking an oral chemo medication in early June acalbrutinib which showed great promise of reducing the cancer cells in his body for approximately 3 weeks. On 7/17 another PET scan revealed the cancer cells were no longer responding to the alcalbrutinib. On 7/20 Chris was admitted to UW to begin an aggressive ramped dosage increase of another oral chemo veneteclax. On the 3rd increase dose Chris suffered tumor lysis syndrome which put him in the ICU for a week. He is currently taking the veneteclax chemo med at a slow but aggressive dosage. His kidneys are slowly showing signs of recovery.
