Not a lot of changes. Chip remains intubated and his oxygen needs fluctuate. Only one virus was indicated after all his tests and the ICU team started antibiotics for it yesterday. They also have been working to move fluid off with diuretics. To address the inflammation in/around his lungs they started steroids yesterday for a 3 day course. His sedation was stepped down a bit today and Chip is more interactive. He is (mostly) successful in writing down what he is trying to communicate, that and a lot of hand gestures. He continues to be the kind hearted and funny guy he usually is. It brings me joy to see his personality even in the restricted state he is in right now.
Jed was scheduled to be here and the timing was perfect! We all feel a lightness in being together. He brought his guitar and that makes Chip happy.
The main goal at the moment is to get Chip to an oxygen level that can be supported with a nasal cannula and the breathing tube removed. Will keep you updated!
I've been thinking and planning things we will do when Chip gets out of the hospital and i hope you will join me in being proactive about things in your life YOU want to achieve. Book the trip, write the letter, make the decision, schedule the move, make the phone call, buy the tickets, say the words, fix the relationship, whatever it is! Be satisfied your efforts.
Be happy with today, and let tomorrow bring what it brings. (I guess I'm feeling a little philosophical) All our best, thanks for the continued support and love!
Danelle
