This is the final post of Charlotte’s Caring Bridge!
After 161 days in the NICU, Charlotte was discharged home this past week. It has been a long road and she still has some hurdles left to overcome, but we are so grateful to have her home. In her last weeks at the hospital, she was weaned to a very low oxygen flow and her blood gases remained stable. We opted to bring her home on a nasal cannula and a feeding tube to expedite the process of getting her out of the hospital. Since she has been home, she has done great and has already been able to take some breaks off her oxygen. Unfortunately, bottle feeding has still been a huge challenge and we are working with an intensive feeding team to prevent the development of a serious oral aversion.
Aside from these challenges, it has been a joy to have her home. She loves to play with her toys, take walks outside, and snuggle with mommy and daddy. We are so appreciative of all the love and support we have received over these past 5 months and praise God that Charlotte has been delivered to us safely.
