Carter’s labs this morning…
- Hemoglobin: 8.1
- Platelets: 9 ‼️
- ANC: 70!
He received a platelet transfusion early this morning while he slept. Carter slept all night long — He didn’t even get up for a bathroom break! He woke up at 6am to use the bathroom. He basically fell asleep standing up. I helped him back into bed and then he went back to sleep until his nurse and I had to wake him after 9am! It was time for meds and our nurse wasn’t willing to let him wait any longer. He wasn’t thrilled to be woken up just to take some oral meds, as you can imagine! 😆
I convinced him to take his medicine and he happily sat and played with his air dry clay while he waited for breakfast to be delivered. He ate 1/2 of a piece of French toast. That’s the most he’s eaten in days. Steven brought him a decaf chocolate creme frappuccino and a croissant from Starbucks. He nibbled on the croissant and downed the drink. That was his “lunch”.
I went home to eat lunch with the big kids and spend time with Tucker. That rotten dog has the hardest time with each of Carter’s hospital admissions. He gets anxious and super clingy when Steven or I leave the house. He much prefers everyone together at home.
Claire and Cooper came up to the hospital this evening. We had dinner together as a family. The kids ate pizza while Steven and I feasted on a meal delivered by one of Carter’s classmates and his family. 🧡 The kids had cranberry juice mixed with Sprite. Carter and Cooper were sitting in bed together and the lid popped off of Carter’s drink and it showered both boys. Yikes! The floors were all sticky and our shoes creaked with each step. 😂 Carter was quick to apologize, but I told him it wasn’t necessary, “Messes can be cleaned!” We quickly got to work. Cooper dried off with Carter’s bed blanket. I had to give Carter a shower. Steven stripped the bed and had to wipe down the mattress.
Claire, Cooper, and Carter sat around and played Roblox on a private server and cracked up. They were laughing and screaming and being so funny. Steven and I actually had time to just sit and talk. It was so nice.
Thank you for checking on us, for loving us, and just being such a blessing in our crazy life.
