Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delayed update but Carla has been very busy in going to/from clinic days from 7 days/week down to 3 days/week now. PRAISE!

She had her one month biopsy done to reveal an outstanding and long awaited report of NO SIGNS OF LEUKEMIA! So so grateful!

She has several side effects post transplant that she deals with on the daily from rashes, no appetite, funky taste buds to abdominal discomfort and every day needs magnesium as her rejection medications cause that. Just to name a few. So many medications…

She is experiencing a lot from the graft vs host and the best explanation is this. Though hers are the common symptoms and nothing dangerous.
{Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a systemic disorder that occurs when the graft's immune cells recognize the host as foreign and attack the recipient's body cells. “Graft” refers to transplanted, or donated tissue, and “host” refers to the tissues of the recipient.}

As far as today’s appt with her Oncology Dr, she is on track and numbers are great! My specific question I just wanted to hear from him was, “so, I’m hearing that there are no signs of rejection, is this accurate?” NO SIGNS! Can we all just breathe some much needed air?! PRAISE GOD!

She is in deed so appreciative in her temporary housing from close friends in the Saline County area (our childhood stomping grounds). Side note-for those that are scared to step into community, it’s taken every single one of us to help walk alongside Carla and we couldn’t have done any of this without the village of support! Do IT!

Anyways, she is mentally ready to have her life-giving, active life, social, family in one place, group trips, calendar maxed cup, filled to the brim again but understandably it’ll come when it needs to.

So much respect for this lady. She’s truly a beautiful soul & she inspires me and all of us.

~Mel
