Newest Update

Journal entry by Storm Wynn

Hi friends and family!

I’m so so pleased to say that Caleb has been home for a week now! Every day we are seeing improvements, and believe that Caleb will be able to make a full recovery if he keeps progressing at this rate. His lungs are doing great! He really is coming back to his old self and it’s been beautiful to watch. This week Caleb wanted to dye his hair for the first time ever- so he chose his favorite color, orange.

Things I’m thankful for:

Caleb no longer needs assistance dressing himself, and doing his own self care.

His vision is improving daily.

A solid medication regime that works for Caleb.

He can open his own medication bottles.

We’re seeing great improvement in his left arm.

Caleb is beginning to be able to use his phone more meaningfully and can text and call his friends

Caleb’s mental health is improving and he’s beginning to be able to see his own progress and be proud of himself.

Our plan going forward:

He is in pulmonary rehab three times a week.

He is starting physical and occupational therapy this week.

Next week we’re hopeful he can start a low vision clinic and see the neuro ophthalmologist to help correct his vision even further.

The G/J tube will be removed in the next few weeks as he no longer needs tube feedings.

Our needs:

Currently I’m trying to work as much as I can while Caleb’s father stays with us to be a supporting player and helping transport our daughter and Caleb around to all the places.

Help with dinners, door dash gift cards, and help finding a solid baby sitter in our area for when Paul leaves are the biggest needs I can see going forward when it’s just the three of us again. If anyone feels so inclined, we’d appreciate the help!

My gofundme is linked through this site (under the Ways To Help tab) look for that directly. If you post a tribute on Caring Bridge directly that does not come to us, but it does help this site run!
I also have Venmo or Zelle pay if that’s more convenient.

Last thoughts:

We are all so blown away by the outpouring of love from Caleb’s medical team, our friends, my coworkers,  our families, and even kind internet strangers. This has hands down been the hardest, most emotionally draining two months in our lives. It was bearable because of all of you.

We’d love to be able to send out thank you cards to everyone who helped us along the way- so please send us your address if you’d like one! Feel free to text or email it to me:
