Today we met with mom’s head oncologist. She had full body scans Friday and we got the results today. So far, thank god, the cancer remains solely in that left 5th rib. They don’t see any spread elsewhere. We are so grateful for this news! The scans did show that both bottom, lower lobes of the lungs have new “atelectasis” — where part of the lung(s) have collapsed. This could very well explain her shortness of breath and coughing lately. They will have her try a spirometer tool at home to see if that improves the lungs. She returns to the oncologist in 2 weeks for an early checkup. She had to stop her treatment meds again about 1.5 weeks ago due to the side effects. They are going to lower the dose of Verzenio one more time to the lowest option and see how that goes, then evaluate. They’ve also referred her to a OSU neurologist to address her daily headaches. A brain MRI is scheduled soon just to make sure they’re not missing anything. During today’s appointment they did another bone infusion and fluids (pictured).
