Journal

Hi all! Today has been a very busy day, but I wanted to give a brief update on Will's scans: NO NEW LESIONS!

On the whole, it’s good news! The activity in his lymph nodes were around the same, as well as activity in the sacrum, which we anticipated. We are giving glory and praise to God! We did not think this would be the case.  Thank you ALL SO incredibly much for all the prayers, support, and love.

Next week, Will will have radiation to his sacrum for a total of five days.  We have also begun the process of getting a second opinion and have a couple appointments in the books.  He also returns to work from being off a couple weeks from his surgery.

What a gift each day is, and I've never been more grateful for it.  God is so good...and even if today had different results, He still remains the same.

Moving forward, we still have the same plans of finding a new oncologist, trying new and different treatments, and doing anything we can to stop any growth.  We could use continued prayer for raising our kids during this intense trial of our life.  Though we may be able to breathe today after receiving this news, our world is still filled with appointments, treatments, and the emotional toll of heaviness and grief, dabbled with bouts of depression and anxiety.  Cancer leaves an ugly mark in lives, and there is a constant hidden battle that is not really talked about.  I know others resonate with those feelings, and it is so incredibly hard.  Although our life has radically changed in one year, there still has also been so much growth and refinement.  These trials almost force us to change, and really evaluate our lives...and as much as I still wish this wasn't our reality, I know God has a purpose for everything, even the really, really hard things.

Anyway, thanks again for being there in this journey...all of you.  We feel the love and support, and that helps tremendously! We couldn't do it without you.

Rachel

P.S.: on a much lighter note, I turned 35 a few days ago and we ended the night at Dave and Buster's.  The kids stole all my hard earned tickets, but they received some pretty cool prizes as a result, so it was worth it 😁
