Bill’s Story

Site created on December 2, 2022

So, like Bill says (from his one of his favorite characters Forest Gump)..." Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."
On Tuesday, Nov 29th Bill suddenly had trouble walking at home. DeeDee had Allison stop over, where we noticed a slight droop in his face. When paramedics arrived, they decided to treat it as a possible stroke. He was brought to Methodist where it was determined he did have a stroke. What appeared at first to be a mild stroke progressed to one that has left him with weakness on his left side and difficulty standing and walking. He will need to rehab at (yet to be determined) transitional facility to regain strength and function. He is getting wonderful care at Methodist and the personnel feel he will regain good function and be back home soon. He is his old humorous self and thankfully his speech is intact and not affected. We will continue with periodic updates. You know Bill loves his "peeps" so any words of encouragement would be appreciated. The journey begins.....

Newest Update

Journal entry by Allison Baker

Dad was discharged late this afternoon and aside from them both being exhausted, Mom and Dad are thrilled to be home. There seem to be no residual effects from this second stroke, which is a huge answer to prayer! Now we need to make sure ALL doctors on his team know to never remove him from a blood thinner!

Look at this guy! He is currently sitting outside on the deck enjoying “nature’s medicine”, exactly where he wants to be.

He will resume all activities later this week, with home OT, PT and Visiting Angels!

Thanks to Leah and Christina for scrambling to help while Allison was out of the country! It takes a village!

We appreciate all of the support, calls, texts and love!
