Journal

The desire to write is fading quite a bit lately for some reason. Maybe it’s just limited brain bandwidth combined with trouble with fingers / typing and with the need for movement as much as I can handle followed by much needed recovery rest. Then it’s kids / family time.

I have had a draft started for almost a week and was still nowhere near finished. I’m not even sure I remember what I wanted to share. So deleted that one and started over.

Chemo news. I made it through the last round. Barely. It was one of those that started out decently, luring me into a sense of false security, then by Day 4 and 5 … Pshew is about all I can say. Now in thinking ahead for the next round I am getting mixed messages with oncology nurses about timing so I’m already gritting my teeth. I have a weakness of needing consistency and I just need and desperately want that from them.

On to non medical blubbering…I have a good one. A little reminder of the hip days of the 1900’s 😂

Josh loves to watch documentaries. Of just about any kind. Typically I am not much of a tv watcher but I’ll say I couldn’t resist four episodes of Bon Jovi history once I saw a small sliver of an episode he watched a few weeks ago.

While I was wrecked by chemo I took a trip down memory lane with songs like It’s My Life, Dead or Alive, (You Want To) Make a Memory and countless Bon Jovi’s 80-90’s albums. But the chorus of this one has stuck with me this week….

Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Livin' on a prayer
Oh, we've gotta hold on, ready or not
You live for the fight when that's all that you've got
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer

Yep. I’m livin on a prayer.

My other favorite was (You Want To) Make a Memory that I also played on repeat.

You wanna make a memory?
You wanna steal a piece of time?
You can sing the melody to me
And I can write a couple lines

Thinking about my family and wanting to make memories and steal time. Thanks Bon Jovi 💜 And honestly I never knew or remembered how wildly successful he was. Maybe I was just too young to remember until later on? I sure wish I had seen him in concert.

Family goodness….

For Mother’s Day the kids and Josh treated me to flowers, wind chimes and Aven made the prettiest watercolor card for me. She’s been bringing home a lot of art from school lately and my heart just bursts at the seams seeing how talented she is. So thankful to celebrate with them. We put up to hammocks one afternoon and just lounged together and it was a new sweet memory.

This week I managed a chill cruiser ride and then later a walk on Monday when I came back to life from chemo. It was great to be outside in the sunshine I couldn’t get enough of it. Tuesday I got another bike date with Josh and then Wednesday I went for a slow wobbly hike with Jill both which were a wonderful comfort to have time and movement with my favorite people. I am looking forward to tomorrow for a date with another friend I haven’t seen in too long. These are moments that I really look forward to!

School gets out for the summer at the end of next week, I am both excited and ready as well as nervous and not ready. I want time with the kids and us to have fun but I also know it is going to be incredibly exhausting. I just am truthfully not too sure what to expect.

Think this might be good for now…..will try to write again soon when I can.

XOXO,
Betsy
