Beth’s Story

Site created on April 19, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website, which Beth wants to use to keep friends updated in one place. She has been saying that connections with people are to her the most important thing, and she appreciates your support as she travels this difficult road she did not choose but nonetheless finds herself on. The key facts are these: on April 9 (2023) a large mass was unexpectedly discovered in her brain; on April 13 surgery removed it; on April 18 the resectioned tumor was confirmed to be a grade 4 malignancy, specifically glioblastoma, a devastating diagnosis. Glioblastoma is a tenacious enemy and will recur. Subsequent treatments are aimed at giving her as much quality time as possible, but the eventual prognosis is unfortunately grim. She wants all of her friends to know this, but does not want to have to relate it over and over. As we create this site, she is in early days of recovery from the surgery, and doing very well with that. Out of the hospital, and feeling better every day. Her desire is to make the most out of the time ahead, hoping for a significant window where she continues to feel good and is able to savor living. How much time this will be none of us know, but she wants to make whatever it is amazing!

Journal entry by Terri Fishel

Dear Friends of Beth,

Today I got word that we have the plaque and I saw the new bench has been installed.  We are in the process of confirming a date to gather at Mac and as soon as I have that date and time, I will share widely.  For now, just now we are hoping to do something in May, after graduation, but before June.  More details to follow as soon as possible.  Looking forward to gathering with as many as possible to celebrate the wonderful person Beth was!
