Journal

I figured I was long overdue for an update here since it's been 4 months.  Oslo was discharged in January, after spending 161 days in the NICU.  He went home on oxygen and after 2 months, was able to get rid of it for good.  That was a happy day!

Today, he is 9 months actual, 5 months adjusted.  The most current height and weight we have for him are 11 pounds 14 ounces and 21 1/2 inches. He's, um, petite.  One of these days he will catch up but for now he is just a teeny little adorable guy.

Sadie shared some updates today on her Instagram and I wanted to be sure to document it here for those of you who might not follow her.

Oslo looks just like his daddy! He is smiling all the time these days and is finding his giggle.  He's slowly starting to babble and has got a very impressive scream.  (I've heard it.  Very impressive is an understatement.)  They are working with PT on being able to hold small toys, lay on his sides and go for longer tummy times.  Ozzy is not a fan of most of that but is slowly getting better.

Not only is Oslo off oxygen, he has been discharged from his pulmonologist!  He's also been discharged from the ophthalmologist as far as monthly exams and will only be seen every 6 months at this point.  The next neurology appointment is supposed to be the last one and then he will be discharged from their care as well.

If you remember, Ozzy had bilateral grade 4 brain bleeds.  Miraculously, he never needed a shunt placed or any intervention.  He will be watched to see what effect the brain damage might have caused but so far, the doctors don't see any signs of cerebral palsy.  What an answer to prayer that is!

As of right now, the biggest issue is with his feeding.  He has developed a pretty bad bottle aversion and is currently only being fed through the g tube.  He is working a with a speech therapist and the hope is that they will be able to get back on track with the bottle.
