Sadie’s Story

Site created on August 6, 2023

While on family vacation outside of Dallas, Sadie began having some cramping pain and went to the local ER to be checked out. After being transferred to a larger hospital, it soon became evident to doctors that Sadie was in preterm labor. Plans were made to transfer Sadie again to another hospital with resources to care for a 22 week old baby. However, because labor had progressed enough to make transfer dangerous for baby, the decision was made to perform an emergent C-Section.

Baby Oslo Dean was born on Friday, August 4th at 7:46 pm, weighing 1 pound and 4.5 ounces & measuring 11.4 inches long. Sadie and Devin (mom and dad!!) were able to meet baby shortly before he was flown to Baylor University Medical Center’s NICU.

Sadie has been discharged from the hospital and is now at home recovering with Devin. Oslo remains at BUMC and his nurses say he is the cutest 22-weeker they have ever seen. This new little family has a long road ahead of them as they learn to navigate the NICU world and wait for Oslo to grow. Please join us in praying for Oslo’s health and development, Sadie’s recovery, and for strength & peace for Sadie and Devin.

Updates will be posted here periodically. Please consider contributing to their GoFundMe or sharing a gift-card via MealTrain for easy meals while in the hospital.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Margo Stewart

Oslo is 5 months old today (actual), 1 month corrected.  We had no idea the journey we were in for that day in August when Sadie said her tummy hurt.  That teensy little 1 pound 4.5 ounce baby had so many obstacles in store for him and through the power and grace of God he has overcome so much.

Sadie got a call from the owner of the medical supply company this evening.  After hearing about the situation, he offered to give Ozzy the first month of equipment at the rental rate since they will be paying out of pocket for now.  They have some things to follow up on tomorrow, but the plan is to have the equipment to them on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Oslo's NICU journey is finally coming to an end. The exact date of discharge is still to be decided but I'm going to let Sadie share that when she knows more.  She and Devin missed out on the fun of announcing that their baby had arrived because it was such a scary situation when he was born.  Sharing that their little family is all finally home together is something they'll now get to announce.

There is no adequate way to express how much the prayers and support from all of you has meant to Ozzy's entire family.  A simple "thank you" is hardly sufficient for the outpouring of love from all of you who read these updates.  We appreciate every single one of you more than we could ever express.

For now, this GoGo is singing off.  It has been my absolute honor to keep you all updated of Oslo's growth these past 5 months.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
